Tonya Bolden-Ball is the project manager of the Center for Minority Excellence at South Louisiana Community College. She holds a Master of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University, Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed the Life Coaching graduate certificate program at Grand Canyon University.
Tonya is also a community strategist, life coach, mentor, and public speaker. Some of her awards and recognition includes: The Louisiana Association of Educator's Human and Civil Rights Trailblazer Honoree, Big Brothers Big Sisters Bright Star Match Honoree, Acadiana Life Style
Magazine’s Women Making A Difference Honoree, Lafayette Democratic Parish Executive Committee Outstanding Democratic Honoree, Delta Women in Business Award, the Daily Advertiser and the 705 Top 20 under 40 Leadership Award, 2019 National Association of University Women (Lafayette Branch) Tribute to Excellence Honoree and 2019 Kiwanis Southwest Outstanding Citizen. Tonya was also a keynote speaker on the Power Stage at the 2019 Essence Music Festival.
Her community and volunteer involvement spans over 15 years in the Lafayette community. In 2012, she was one of the individuals who assisted a group of female students with creating the framework for
what is now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's Black Women Leadership Association for which she serves as the mentor to the organization. She also serves as one of the mentors for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Women's Basketball Team. Tonya is the creator of the Annual Community Cares Holiday Care Package Drive, an event which focuses on collecting cleaning and household necessities that are distributed to families and individuals throughout the Lafayette community at no cost to them.
Her leadership involvement includes serving as the Chair of Cluster 3 for the Louisiana State Leadership team for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and member of the Lafayette Alumnae Chapter, member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Planning Committee, and Immediate President of the Faith House Inc. Board of Directors. Tonya also serves as the Vice-President of the Academic Affairs Committee for the Christiana Smith Alumni Chapter at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
She is a graduate of the Leadership Institute of Lafayette as well as the CABL (Council for a Better Louisiana) Leadership Louisiana program and a two-time appointee to the Louisiana Women's Policy and Research Commission. She is the founder and host of the Candid Conversations, a series of events designed to educate, empower and encourage women and girls to move from a place of complacency to a place of greatness. She also serves as the host of the Moments of Elevation segments that are aired daily on KNEK Magic 104.7 KNEK FM and 95.5 KRRQ FM radio stations. She is married to Kirk R. Ball and they are the proud parents of Trevor and Kennedi.
